Had dinner at Upperstar, Damai few days ago with Sheila; just the 2 of us. Suddenly this topic came up.. During one of her DH's guys night out, her DH asked every guy who was there this question.
"What would you do if your wife left you? What scares you the most?" Here are some of their answers..
Husband#1: Scared that nobody will wash and iron his clothes
Husband#2: Scared that he can't afford to pay all the household bills with 1 income only
Husband#3: Scared that he won't be able to raise his kids without his wife
Husband#4: Scared that the 'new' guy won't be able to take care of his (ex)wife and kids
I asked my DH the same question the next day but added "what if I die first.. bla..bla?" He said "I'm scared that Mia won't be able to get to know you; you're a great mum bla..bla...".
For me, my answer is; I'm scared that I won't be able to offer similar standard of living to Mia even if I went back to work full time. And of course, Mia will miss the opportunity to get to know her daddy. My DH is the fatherly type ; he does everything; change dirty diapers, wake up in the middle of the night to make her nenen or rock her back to sleep, clean her up, wash her bum-bum after she poops! etc. Mia is what we call a typical "Daddy's little girl".
I think it's good to be prepared for any eventualities. We upgraded our insurance policy right after we got married... Although we are also covered under his company's health insurance, I decided to take up 2 more policies that covers all 3 of us recently, but it's more for accidents; hospitalization, recovery etc .. 2 of my favorite blog wrote about similar topic recently; kennysia and obnoxiousmom.
Knowing that we are 'some what' covered helps feel more secured about the future..
