Mia's 1st visit to the Dentist

Mia had fever on the night before we were supposed to fly off to Hong Kong. Next morning, we took her to the doctor and he said it is probably caused by dental problem, as her left cheek was slightly swollen and she was complaining of pain. Mia would scream "I said, don't touch my cheek!!" to both DH and I. Thank god the pain disappeared as soon as we gave her some meds.

Today, we decided to take her to the dentist. I was really worried that she would resist being checked by the dentist, or worst. I was surprised! She was such a good sport; no whinning or crying. And true enough, there was something wrong with her teeth and she needed some 'fillings'. Luckily, her dentist fixed it without any drilling etc. He juz placed the filling on the teeth and that's abt it.

Night Time Potty Training

Mia @ 34mths old

Last week, I started Mia's night time (sleep time) potty training. I didn't follow through on that much earlier as she was still heavily bottle-feeding during the night, even until today. She would have at least 120ml of formula before bed (if not more), and would normally wake up few hours later and ask for another bottle and again another bottle few hours later. There are times when her diapers pun tembus by the time she wakes up in the morning.

The first few nights, she peed on the bed and woke up crying. I decided to place a layer of  CD insert  inside her panties so that it'll soak most of the pee. As of 2 nights ago, I'm glad to report that she didn't wet the bed at all. Before she goes to bed, she would pee on the potty. Then, she would also wake up in the middle of the night (by herself), wakes me up and tells me that she needs to go potty... kesian oso.. looking at her stumbling around binggung-binggung when walking towards the potty which is just a few feet away from her bed. Will monitor her progress and hopefully, I'll be able to let her go to bed without the CD insert before baby#2 arrives :-)

Mia @ 28mths

Confused, we looked at each other and asked "Did she said 'Hi guys'?".. *binggung*

Christmas is near!

Went for Penitential Service yesterday. Believe it or not, I dreaded going for confession... it's like going for an important job interview or going for a major operation ba... and I keep forgetting what to confess...  Also, something funny happened. Mia's been very interested in singing nowadays... during the service; while the priest was talking, suddenly she started singing; loudly "A-ye-u-yaaaa, a-ye-yu-yaaaa" (Halleluyah).. I had to cover her mouth a few times to stop her... It was so cute.. unfortunately, the timing was awkward... hehehe

Pretend Play

Some mothers are hooked on CD's (Cloth Diapers), slings, clothes, wipes etc. Well I'm hooked on pretend play toys!! Meet our new Master Chef. She loves 'cooking' and serving food to DH and I.

I do realize that kids can be very creative at Pretend Play and don't really need all these toys.. Just a simple box can keep them entertained for hours ;-p

To Mia, this box is a hat, a car, a chair, a drum, a boat.. and the list goes on and on..

Mia @ 25mths (Part#2)

Some new sentences spoken by Mia. She's putting together much longer sentences now. She's still unable to pronounce 'L' though. 'Love' is still 'Nove', 'Light' is still ' Night'.

"Bye-bye uncle, see you, take care!"

"Where mummy go?"

"Eyes, come out eyes. Come here eyes"
(She's got this weird obsession about eyes and aliens@#$%)

"Help me, help me"

"Done suck thumb, sure"

Growing older..

Last week, I noticed Mia starting to have 'preference' when it comes to what to wear . When we go out, I would normally ask her to wear her Red Crocs Sandal. But she put it back and took the Pink Mary Jane Crocs instead. It didn't bother me.

Today after her bath, I picked up a grey shirt and training pants for her to wear. She quickly looked inside the drawer and pointed at her pink shirt and normal panties. I started to insist that she wears the ones that I picked and she started saying "dun wan, dun wan, dun wan.. wan this one"..

I feel so sedih... I feel like tomorrow she's going off to Uni already... big girl sudah kan.. uhuhhuuh

Mia @ 25mths

Ok, Mia is definitely one of those toddlers that talks.. and talks... and talks... I wonder where she got the 'non-stop talking' gene from?? Definitely not from me :-)  But, good oso la.. I dun have to do all the talking..

Just to share some sweet moments..

This morning, she woke up much earlier than me. DH switched the cartoon on and left for work, while I sleep in till 9am. When she saw me, she said "Good Morning. Mummy Tired?".

She dropped her 'blankie' on the floor and started crying while saying "Blankie, blankie", picked the blankie up, then 'sayang-sayang' the blankie while saying "Sorry, Blankie".

When DH watches normal channel (ie BBC, movie etc), Mia would protest by saying "Dun wan aunty, dun wan uncle, dun want aunty dance-dance (MTV). Want Kiki Dora"..

In the Yo Gabba-Gabba video, theres's a dance segment called 'hold still'. The words for the song goes "Hold stiiilllllll, wiggle wiggle wiggle go, wiggle wiggle wiggle go.....". So u'd actually have to hold still and wiggle. Sometimes, I so malas want to dance with her. I'd just wiggle while sitting down. She'd say "Mummy, down. Wiggle here" while pointing to the floor next to her... so demanding oh... doi!!:-)

Entertaining an extra active toddler

I gave up and finally decided to buy an Ipod Touch 32GB for Mia.. I used to look at other parents who let their toddler sit in front of a portable DVD player at restaurants and say "Kesian juga have to do that".  I secretly vowed that I will never resort to that, but look at me now. I've officially entered 'that' club.

Last sunday, we went to Jusco Tebrau and decided to have dinner at Kenny Rogers. Little did we know that we had to wait longer than 30 minutes for our meal (apparently there's something wrong with the roaster machine). I was becoming restless and so was Mia.

Children's Book Category

Mia has been a MPH Kidz Club member since she was just a few months old. She loves books. So last nite, we decided to pick up some more books for her from JB's City Square MPH and alang-alang, I decided to grab for me a copy of the latest 'New Moon: The Official Illustrated Movie Companion'.. Yipee!! So happy!

At check out, i handed over Mia's Kidz Club member card so that we can get a 10% discount on all children's books; little did i know that my book is also categorized as children's book.. So, instead of paying RM69.90 for it, i only paid Rm62.90.. double yipee!!

Yupe, I'm very 'young' at heart! :-p *grinning from ear to ear*

I Can't Help Myself

DH was off yesterday. I suggested that we drive over to Spore; but we chickened-out in the last minute due to several reasons (any excuse will do right? hehehe.. kebaruan ba, so takut sesat );
1. It was raining
2. After calculating the amount of time we are expected to spend at the immigration check point (entering & exiting) and sesat in Spore, we'll have very little time to go around.

DH suggested that we use cab service for the first few times to get used to the road and surrounding area or drive over with someone who knows. We've been to Singapore a couple of times; but never paid any attention ba..

So instead, we decided to check out Carrefour. Bought a couple of long sleeved shirts for the 3 of us (sejuk ba our room.. ) and some groceries and household stuffs... and 3 boxes of Barbie furniture set!! can u blame me for this indulgence? It was on SALE ba.. from RM59.90 to RM25 per set... Mia's Bday is coming soon, so I decided, what the heck!  ;-p Instead of spending almost RM180, I paid only RM75.. YAY! (Thank God there was only 3 types. Otherwise, semua pun sia gasak maybe..hehehe).

As you can see, there's an entertainment centre set, vanity set and party dining set :-)

These tiny items will have to be kept until Mia ditches the habit of putting
things into her mouth.. which is a year+ from now...
I'm amazed with Mattel. These tiny items are carved/moulded with
detailed percission.. macam betul oh; the remotes, forks, spoons, cds etc

I WANT MORE!   ;-p

Dirty Tactics

Mia's been very naughty since we arrived in JB.. Climbing up tables and bar stools, opening and emptying drawers and cabinets that are not locked, playing with switches and lamps, abusing my laptop, pulling the phone, cables, wires etc etc. The terrible 2 phase is kicking in fast! I've toddler-proofed all that I can, but there's nothing much I can do with certain hotel stuffs; like drawers with no handles... And she also has  developed the habit of running away and expecting us to chase after her..

So tonite, I decided to play a 'dirty' trick on her.. It's a mean trick but I had to try... kehabisan idea sudah nie.. After dinner, I shut off the bedroom light and hid behind d cabinet. At first, she didn't realize I was 'missing' as she was watching TV in the living room. After a few minutes, I heard "Mummy... Where are you?"... "Mummy!".. "Mummy gone?"... and some crying started, which lasted about 30seconds.. She was walking around the apartment but didn't enter the dark bedroom... By this time, she realized that I was 'gone'..

I waited for another few minutes and finally came out of the darknes. After seeing me, she quickly ran towards me and hugged me tight. With her 'about to cry voice and 10cents face' she said "Mummy, this (while pointing at me) mummy. Mummy gone. Mia sad". She hugged me again and said "Mummy this, Mia happy"... At that point I felt guilty... So I said "Do you like to see mummy gone? If Mia naughty, mummy gone again. Mia good girl and listen to mummy ok. Otherwise, mummy gone again ok." I hugged, kissed and told her that I love her so much and sat her on the sofa.... Hope I never have to resort to this trick again.. uhuhuhuh.. guilty..

So Much For Keeping A Low Profile

Before we left for JB, DH was advised that it's good to keep a low profile when staying in house. You know la kan.. senang jadi bahan umpatan amongst the staffs. Actually, there is truth behind this accusation... Last time when I was still working in the Hotel, I used to hear all types of story... some are pretty horrible and probably exaggerated..Unfortunately, it's not easy to do this when you have an active 2 year old toddler!

Last nite, Mia was locked-in inside the bedroom! Our bedroom is separated from the living room & kitchen by a connecting door. This happened while I was cleaning up Mia's mess in the living room. She just finished her dinner and was running back and forth between the living room and the bedroom.. The next thing I heard was the connecting door closing and another 'click' sound... I normally put the door stopper on the door but removed it as Mia has got into the habit of climbing the writing table inside the bedroom if she's left unsupervised there.. Well, last nite the connecting door was not closed and this carelessness lead to this incident... (I feel guilty.. guilty... guilty!)

Connecting door

Door stopper

I had to run over to the guest telephone (next to the lift) and called for help. Ran back to the apartment and tried to reassure Mia who's now frantically screaming inside the bedroom! Within minutes, somebody came but he didn't have the key to open the connecting door. He called maintenance and this guy had no choice but to break the lock. The screaming and crying continued.. "Open door! open door! mummy, daddy, open door!". Tried to calm Mia down by asking her to sing the 'ABC'... Then next thing I know, the door opened and the maintenance guy quickly jumped in and hugged Mia.. I guess he probably has a daughter around Mia's age..

The damage!

Kesian DH.. 2mrw, this incident will surely be a topic during the morning briefing!  I must admit, monitoring a toddler while you're buzy doing other daily chores is definitely not easy. Just few days ago at a Raya Open house, I witnessed our 3year old nephew almost stuck a KNIFE into his mouth!! All I could do was scream 'STOP NO!'. Luckily, our aunty was nearby enough to take the knife away without anybody getting hurt.. Haiya! I feel like I want to pengsan oledi after witnessing that! So, need to do extra toddler proofing! plus I think I need an extra pair of eyes and hands.. Anybody got extras to spare?
