I purchased the Baby Signs(R) Potty Training kit ages ago and have been trying to use it to potty train Mia since she was 12mths old. But due to on and off sicknesses like Cold, Flu, Fever, Diarrhea etc I was not able to be persistent in potty training her. Plus, I was not really disciplined... So, I blame myself for it.
Then finally, abt 2 weeks ago, I told myself, "That's it!!" My goal is to complete potty training before Mia turns 2 in Oct. So, I started going thru the Potty Training kit again.
1st week - I got her to wear training pants (like undies). Didn't work for her. She doesn't seem to mind the 'wet' feeling of her panties and continues to run around playing despite the wet undies.
2nd week - no pants at all!! Our living room is carpeted.. and yes, there's been quite a number of peeing happening on the carpet. Luckily, our carpet is dark brown in colour and is not the absorbent type. So as soon as Mia 'decides' she'd rather pee on the carpet, I immediately wipe the pee off and spray the affected area with anti-bacterial solution.
The good news is, since I started letting her run around the house underwear-less, she has peed and did #1 on the potty a couple of times already.. Yay!!
This morning, as usual, immediately after she woke up, I asked her to sit on the potty. She sat for 5 minutes and got off the potty. Soon after, she peed on the floor.. I was quite upset and started explaining to her again about putting her pee2 in the potty and not on the floor. I made her sit on the potty again.
I went over to the next room to take my bath towel, leaving her in the toilet for a while (she was on the potty). Seconds later, I heard her shouting "pee-pee!, pee-pee!". I ran to the toilet to see what's happening and there she was.. walking out of the toilet holding the potty with her small hands, excitingly showing me that she has peed in the potty!! "pee-pee! pee-pee!" So cute!! She's peed in the potty few times before today, so I was surprised to see her reaction.
Later in the day, she peed on the potty again and was reacting the same way.. again!.. I couldn't help but smile and started praising her.. GOOD JOB MIA!!
